Highland Manor was originally built for the Eldridge family in 1903, one of Apopka’s first families. In 1920, a physician named Dr Thomas McBride and his wife Helen McBride bought the stately home to use as his medical practice and family residence.
This 4,000 square foot home served the doctor for countless years. He once declared delivering over 3,000 babies adding that if all the monies owed to him were paid, his house could have been lined with gold. The good doctor’s wife Helen was an avid pilot who owned several of her own airplanes and flew in competitions nationwide. During World War II she taught her own Civilian pilots training Course and trained some of the soldiers who fought in the war.
Exploring the home’s eight private rooms, it’s easy to imagine the anxious fathers that must have traipsed the very same floorboards, sighing with relief at the first sound of their newborn’s cry or the many vigils for the sick and dying that must have taken place under it’s gable roof.
Doctor Thomas McBride’s nurturing spirit earned him a reputation as a local hero or patriarch of the town by many Apopka residents. After a life long dedication to helping others, Dr. McBride passed away peacefully in his much loved home in 1978.

O.k. as to our investigation at this location - having background noise was definitly an issue -There were workers still in the building - they were at some point during our investigation moving furniture around talking etc.. and we did have groups of investigators on each floor, you could hear them walk around sometimes talking etc... But it was a great place to investigate - I would love to go back again. We heard the sound of footsteps coming up the stairs and when one of the persons on the team checked - no one was there. On the third floor in the main building there seemed to be answers to questions via k2 meter. Strange thing was - the lights on the k2 only lit up when the men stayed back and even more so when they were asked to leave the area. As soon as a man joined in and began to ask questions - the k2 meters did nothing. At one point there were some investigators who had spent over 70 minutes in this location. This group of investigators claimed to had narrowed the questions down to identify the ghosts....they said there were two children under the age of 5 - they liked to play games like hide and seek. But seemed to also be afraid of a male spitrit that shows up every now and then - a man they described as a slave in tattered clothes. Funny part is - well not funny - strange is a better word when one of the woman asked if we should allow some of the men back into the room....On my recording at this point - there was a mans voice you can clearly hear say "No" - then following that you can hear one of the FGT guests in the room a woman say "no"......Like I said - I need to review my findings better - before drawing a conclusion if it is possible for this investigation considering all the people we had around during this time. Having too much activity throughout the place - makes these things - almost impossible to rule as paranormal. Considering the possibility it may had been someone else in the building talking or making the noises caught on the recorder. These evp findings will be loaded on here very soon - and maybe you can decide. It was clear as day! Kindof creepy...
In the building known as the Dr. McBrides office - where he had many patients the opposite happened.....our k2 meter only lit up when the men would ask questions. No apparations were seen by any investigators as far as we know. But evps - [Electronic Voice Phenomenon] these may be there.....I need to crop the ones I have and get them posted....some I do need to question....but will need the help of everyone that was there that night to be sure these are possitive evp recordings from something paranormal.....These will be loaded up soon.

"The Huguenot Cemetery"
The Huguenot Cemetery is considered to be one of the hottest spots for real ghost stories and paranormal activity - both by the locals and the tourists that travel to St. Augustine. One of the most popular ghost stories surrounding this haunted graveyard is that of the Judge by the name of John B. Stickney. While on a trip related to business in the year of 1882, this prominent individual was affected by typhoid fever and immediately died. His body was laid to rest in this cemetery. In the year of 1903, however, his body was exhumed in an effort to be located where his children lived. It was then that several gold teeth were said to have been taken.
Today, this judge is believed to be the "man in the tree". In addition to this, it is believed that he paces the grounds of the Huguenot Cemetery on a regular basis. It does appear that he is in search of something, and many believe that it may be his teeth, while others believe that perhaps he is just lost. There is another spirit that seems to linger in the cemetery with the ever-popular judge, and that is a man by the name of Erastus Nye.
